Cropped & Skewed was my final project in Bezalel, an attempt to create a graphical motion system based on musical values and principles. After exploring and examining the connection between the two disciplines I decided to use Spotify’s open source audio analysis tools for their wide track covrage.
This project was an attempt to create a new way to discover music through a visual experience and prefrences, which in some cases may have steered us away from an album or video in the past.
The representing symbols are designed and animated following a system i created by paralleling between musical properties and graphic and motion elements such as the music key being represented by color, BPM determined the speed of the animation, the tracks energetic rating is represented by scale and so on.

Each symbol represents a song's unique sign and the similarities between the graphic elements can be filtered to help you find a broader musical connection between two songs.
